Cut the busywork - climb the career ladder
Two people - same job (for now)…
One is at their desk from open until close, busy as a bee, making sure every task gets done.
The other can’t be found half the time and takes 2 hour lunches…
But…
Completes the work of three people.
Who gets promoted?
There's a split happening in offices everywhere…
The copy-paste crowd clicking through endless screens, logging into a bajllion systems, and works by hand...
And the few who can set up automations to handle repetitive tasks.
Not sure if you’ve seen this too?
I’ve been noticing…
The automation people are:
*Being put on high profile projects
*Finishing jobs while others are still planning
*Handling work that would normally need multiple people
And…
*Getting promoted faster than their colleagues
People who can LOOK like work horses (by automating)…
Seem to climb the ladder faster and make more over their careers.
Used to be - staying late and grinding away got you ahead.
Now it's about what gets done.
Not how much sweat it takes.
The kicker?
(Thankfullly)
You don't need to be a coder anymore.
Or have a fancy computer science degree hanging on your wall.
You just need the right tools and a bit of curiosity.
With today's tools, nearly anyone can connect their apps together and create automations to do repetitive tasks without writing a single line of code.
You literally drag and drop things around on a screen until – boom – your automation is up and running.
You just need the right tool.
My fav is Make.
It’s cheaper than Zapier…
…and way less techie than n8n.
With a couple Youtube videos and some fiddling around…
You can be one of the ‘Go-To” people companies rely on.
Managers and bosses coming to you for help.
IMHO?
Beats the alternative of being the ‘busy bee’ stuck to their desk, trying to complete all their work before the end of the day.
But the choice is yours.
It’s your career:-)
In your corner,
James Foster
PS - If you’re in marketing?
Using AI and automation to build out campaigns will soon be a requirement.
Up to you - but might wanna learn to use Make soon-ish.
